The Hazardous Materials Association is a non-profit association of professional contractors, and other concerned organizations or individuals involved in the hazardous materials industry in the Province of British Columbia.
We promote compliance with regulatory board requirements through education, training, and support for the voluntary standardization and upgrading of hazardous materials handling procedures. Our stringent procedures protect the health and safety of hazardous materials workers, building occupants, and the general public while respecting and safeguarding our environment.
We believe that the handling and management of hazardous materials requires proven expertise and competence. Our member contractors are acknowledged professionals that are recognized for the high standards of work that they perform.
The Hazardous Materials Association represents the interests of our members by providing a forum for discussing issues relevant to the hazardous materials handling industry. Collectively, we provide a single entity for developing and implementing standards for worker protection, and training. We maintain a close working relationship with the regulatory agencies and government bodies that have jurisdiction over the safe handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials. We collect and circulate medical information on the adverse health effects associated with exposure to specific hazardous materials and evaluate new technologies that will enhance productivity while ensuring worker safety, and environmental protection.
